The Lexicon of Blurry Lines

Sébastien Gaudette’s artistic practice revolves around the theme of paper, exploring its relationship to sculpture through the study of gesture. He does not see paper as a two-dimensional surface, but rather as a material that can be molded, and where its alteration becomes an integral part of his process of pictorial composition. The gesture is used to leave only an imprint, a trace of a movement, an evolution towards a more complex form. The crumpled, folded, or torn paper thus becomes a narrative framework in his creation; a failure or a misunderstanding due to something. Gaudette attempts to demonstrate that it is often during these states of being that the path that allows us to advance further.
